The Internet Has Mixed Feelings About The "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" Reboot

"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" fans are divided over how and if they'd want to see the iconic series rebooted.
A Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot produced by Joss Whedon is in the works and fans of the OG series aren't entirely convinced. News broke on Friday, July 20 that a reboot of the 90s vampire classic was in development at 20th Century Fox, with Whedon and Monica Owusu-Breen (Revolution, Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) at the helm.
The original Buffy series ran for 7 seasons from 1997-2003 and now a new actress will step into the iconic slayer role. According to Variety, the new gen Buffy will be a diverse character played by a black actress.
As was the case with the Charmed reboot, Buffy fans aren't 100% sold on the idea of revisiting the beloved character and show.
Many suggested having a new character (not named Buffy) tell a different story in the BTVS universe.
While others wanted to see more diverse characters on television but also wanted Buffy to be left alone.
Still, some were not totally against the idea.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer is widely considered one of most loved TV dramas of the 90s and early 00s. Fans followed Sarah Michelle Gellar's character over 7 seasons and it's understandable why a new Buffy might make some nervous.
A revival rather than a reboot might be a safe direction to take the project in. By keeping the premise of a demon and vampire killing bad ass, but changing her name and the people in her inner circle, a diverse new slayer could have the opportunity to win fans over in her own right.
