9 Hidden Messages You Might Have Missed In The TØP's ‘Jumpsuit' Video

Tyler & Josh went DEEP on this video 🙏
The wait is over. Twenty One Pilots have finally released not one but TWO new songs from their forthcoming new album Trench, due for release on October 5th. The band uploaded two videos: an audio track of 'Nico and the Niners' and then a proper music video for 'Jumpsuit'.
In the 'Jumpsuit' video we watch Tyler (or is it Clancy?) running from a villain who's dressed in a red and wears a creepy face mask. Eventually watchers on the hill appear in matching jackets to Tyler and they throw yellow confetti and the villain rides off, not before leaving a black mark on Tyler's neck, which is reminiscent of the Blurryface era.

Twenty One Pilots Announce HUGE World Tour For New Album 'TRENCH'
The video is packed with symbolism and hidden meanings from the very beginning, including a visual nod to the Blurryface era. If you cast your minds back to the 'Heavydirtysoul' video, which was the last video to be taken from their last album Blurryface, it ends with footage of a burning car. In 'Jumpsuit', Tyler jumps on a burnt out car and says, "I've been here the whole time you were asleep", signaling the end of Blurryface and start of the new Trench era.

Burnt-out-car realness.
If you've been following the Clancy theory/DMAORG site, then you'll know that Clancy posted several grainy, black and white photos. Many people thought those images would have some significance later down the line and, as it turns out, they were completely correct. The 'Jumpsuit' video features several of those images including the watchers on the top of the cliffs and the body lying in the river.

God damn.
Fans were quick to pick up on the the symbolism of the yellow era too. Yellow typically signifies positive emotions and feelings like happiness, optimism and creativity, and in the context of 'Jumpsuit', it appears to suggest an awakening from a dark place, as Tyler begins running and stops following the villain only when the yellow confetti begins to rain down from above.
The colour red only appears in the video in the form of darkness (the burned car and the villain that is chasing Tyler throughout, who also marks him with Blurryface style lines on his neck)

💛
Some fans think the red villain is Blurryface pursuing Tyler and that Josh/the new era has saved Tyler from Blurryface.
#Jumpsuit Tyler is Clancy. Guy on horse is Blurryface. Josh is one of the people who saved Tyler from blurryface. He's on the run. He's telling us to cover him. IM CRYING pic.twitter.com/a6oK4XsT4T

HANDS OFF, BLURRYFACE.
There's is still some debate about who Josh and the others on the cliffs represent. Are they the clique? Or perhaps they aren't supposed to represent a group of people but a feeling instead?
#Jumpsuit THIS IS SUCH A SYMBOLIC MV, THE CLIQUE THROWS THE PETALS (SUPPORT) AND TYLER REALIZES THE SITUATION AND RUNS FROM THAT DUDE ON THE HORSE UGHHHH I CANNAT pic.twitter.com/J0nVWXdHUB

So what is role of Josh in the video? This Twitter user has an interesting theory that Josh is Tyler's guardian angel, which we're 100% into.

josh doesn’t really exist in any of the cinematic music videos... he’s tylers guardian angel. he’s willing to get hit by the car to try and stop blurryface in hds, helped tyler escape in heathens, and is now literally watching over him and is going to save him in jumpsuit. pic.twitter.com/7R0bNRoOK9

Protect Tyler at all costs.
Oh, and did you notice Tyler LITERALLY got covered in an orange jumpsuit at the end of Heathens video? His jumpsuit also turns into a yellow jacket later in the video, foreshadowing the yellow visuals of this era.

Wow.
Oh, and it's not just Josh on the cliffs. Did you notice Tyler's wife Jenna also made an appearance?

It's a family reunion up there.
SO where does that leave the story/narrative? It looks like the story will continue in future videos because of this pic and the fact that the 'Nico and the Niners' lyrics continue the jumpsuit theme.
In the new Twenty One Pilots image their outfits are not the ones seen in the #Jumpsuit video, and the camp setting and drums in the background are not featured in the video.

Could this mean future videos from the era will follow on and are already filmed? #TRENCH pic.twitter.com/MmEcVXt0DK
Knowing TØP, we wouldn't put it past them.
We're pretty sure we're only just scratching the surface with this video and all the secret meanings. If you've got any more sleuths, hit us up @popbuzz.
