It was a really tricky case of mistaken identity.

It has now become clear that Pete Davidson isn't who he says he is. When he's not dealing with the drama of the Ariana Grande fandom, he's moonlighting as Troye Sivan. We would too, tbf.

A recent Inside Edition segment covered the release of Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" video. But one host referenced a "Pete Davidson lookalike", which just so happened to be Troye.

Now if you've watched the video – and have eyes – as many times as we have, you'll know that Ariana shoves poor Troye during the Mean Girls segment. However, the Inside Edition presenter thought it was Pete's doppelgänger that she pushed. "It appears that she shoves a Pete Davidson look alike," they quipped. "Then she literally closes the book on their relationship." C'mon we know the entire song is about Ari's exes but we can't exactly see her deliberately shoving one on camera.

Now, it's fair to say this comparison is a big 'ol reach. Sure, they have similar-ish hair colours from time to time. And I guess they are both male, but other than that... where?!

As you can imagine, when this hit the internet it's fair to say people were hysterical.

Troye is, of course, Ariana's close friend and an actual star in his own right. The talented duo collaborated on Troye's song "Dance to This" earlier this year and Ariana appeared in the video too.
