The singer made an important point about "respecting others" in a message to fans posted on social media.
'American Teen' singer Khalid has spoken out online after a fan groped him during a recent meeting.
Khalid took to his Twitter feed last night (November 19th), recounting the incident which saw a fan grab him from behind as he approached them:
lol I go to talk to a fan and she grabs my ass, how fuckin old are we???

Khalid joins many other high profile figures across the entertainment industry who have spoken publicly about assault and harassment in the wake of the revelations about producer Harvey Weinstein.
Fans were quick to show support as well as condemn this type of behaviour in any context:
oh my god.......khalid i am so sorry......sexual harrassment is absolutely disgusting......i'm so sorry that people take advantage of your kindness. you deserve to be treated with utmost respect.

i respect you so much for mentioning what happened. nobody should experience this type of treatment

However, the singer also made it clear that while this incident was unacceptable, it will not deter him from interacting with fans in the future:
One shitty person isn’t going to keep me away from anybody, I️ really love u guys https://t.co/8pmQBMLade
