Lana Condor called Donald Trump racist after he repeatedly called coronavirus "the Chinese virus".

To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Lana Condor is slamming Donald Trump for his racist words in regards to coronavirus.

Ever since coronavirus first became an international crisis earlier this year, Donald Trump has repeatedly referred to it as "the Chinese virus" in interviews and public statements. Yesterday (Mar 18), he tweeted: "I always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously, and have done a very good job from the beginning, including my very early decision to close the “borders” from China - against the wishes of almost all. Many lives were saved. The Fake News new narrative is disgraceful & false!"

Taking to social media last night (Mar 18), Lana wrote: "Be better. To wake up to your chaos is truly a nightmare. Please. Be better. To my followers - be safe. I love you." alongside a note. Lana stated: "You have no idea the ramifications your racist words & actions have on the Asian American community. You simply cannot even fathom the danger you are putting our community in."

She continued: "How dare you? You should be ashamed of yourself. You call yourself a leader? You know what leaders do? They LEAD by setting good examples and ACTION. Something we've yet to see you do. You need to take notes on Chinese billionaire Jack Ma who is ACTUALLY leading - by donating tests and millions of masks to AMERICA, bc you haven't."

Lana ended the post writing: "Please. Be better. So we aren't afraid to leave our house in fear someone will verbally or physically abuse us because of your xenophobia."

It goes without saying that Trump's terminology is racist and wrong. Just like people used to call AIDs "the gay disease", saying coronavirus is "the Chinese virus" unfairly associates it with a marginalised group of people. It helps breed xenophobia and spread false information about an illness that isn't linked to one specific race.
