Fans are tweeting negative reviews of Tom Hardy's 'Venom' in a bid to drive people to see 'A Star Is Born' instead.

In what might be the most bizarre 'feud' of 2018, it appears as though Lady Gaga's passionate fanbase are currently embroiled in a Twitter battle against Tom Hardy's new movie, Venom. (Yes, really. We're not making this up.) And they will NOT stop trolling the Marvel fans.

As reported by BuzzFeed News, fans of the star of A Star Is Born appear to have created fake Twitter profiles, posing as mums from the midwest, tweeting negative reviews about the soon-to-be-released Venom. Why, you ask? Because Venom is released on the same day (October 5th, mark your calendars) as A Star Is Born in the US and the all important number one spot at the weekend box office is up for grabs.

It's not the first time Gaga stans have employed the fake profiles of several Midwestern mums to do their trolling. Back in 2016, when Gaga dropped Perfect Illusion, stans began tweeting radio stations and drumming up general hype around the single in a bid to increase streams and air play. If there's one thing you can trust Gaga's Little Monsters to do, it's to hype up their mother at any and all costs.

And now, they're back and this time, their aim is to ensure that more locals go and see A Star Is Born instead of the film based on the Marvel character. While the trolling is low-key petty, the tweets themselves are hilarious.

.

After speaking to various fans behind the tweets, BuzzFeed News reported that some fans have confessed to an organised trolling, while others are just tweeting it as a joke. And now, Venom fans are taking to Twitter social media to share their own anti-A Star Is Born tweets.

.

But it's not just Gaga fans that are tweeting the negative reviews either... it also appears that there are actual bots tweeting negatively about Venom too.

.

If the reviews are anything to go by, Gaga stans need not worry. Venom hasn't received very many favourable reviews amongst critics and people who have already seen the film. In fact, the film is currently sitting at 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. A Star Is Born? All the way up at 95%, certified Fresh and on track for a successful award season.

However, as we all know, it's not all about reviews... According to Variety, Venom is on track for a bigger opening weekend. Looks like the Midwestern soccer mums work here is not done yet.
