Why Do People Think Halsey Is Lying About Being Bisexual?

And why are people STILL calling her "tri-bi"?
If you only know a few things about Halsey it's likely one of the following: she's talented, she's brutally honest, and she's bisexual. She's talked about all three of those things, at length, and with her fans throughout her relatively short career. And, as far as most real fans are concerned, Halsey has never tried to hide anything about herself.
Despite being open about herself, Halsey was forced to shut down rumors, in an interview with Nylon Magazine, that she has been pretending to be bisexual this whole time to win over LGBTQ fans.
People will say, 'Halsey's pretending to be bisexual to get more album sales.' I'm like, wow, goddamn, it is incredible that we live in a f*cking year where being queer helps you sell records. Like, that's a pretty wild development in the music industry.

Halsey is right. It's pretty absurd to assume that she has constructed an entire persona for herself where she is bisexual simply to appeal to a specific proportion of potential fans. What's even wilder is the assumption that she talks about her sexuality to get people to pay attention to her.
Even some other fans have noticed the double standard surrounding Halsey and her sexuality.

I'm sure we're all grown up here and understand that gender and sexuality are just hangovers from a deeply flawed cultural hegemony. RIGHT? I also hope we understand that you can be bisexual and never date or be intimate with a person of the same sex. RIGHT? You don't have to be with someone of the opposite sex to be straight, so why do people put pressure on Halsey to prove she's bi?

A: Not necessarily. For some people, bisexuality is more about the attraction and the instincts rather than the "doing" part.

A: You can believe whatever you want. That doesn't stop bisexual people from existing. People thought the earth was flat for a long time. Doesn't mean it was actually flat, fam.
Q: If I date a bisexual person, does that mean they're more likely to cheat?
A: Not at all. If you're with a serial cheater (of any sexual orientation) then that's probably not a good sign though.
Q: I've never heard about Halsey dating a girl. How can she be bisexual?
A: Halsey has been touring and promoting her music for over a year now. She was also in a long term relationship with Lido before that. WHEN would she have had time to date all these women you need her to date to prove herself to you?
Halsey doesn't have to prove she's bisexual and the fact that she talks about her sexuality is such a blessing to so many young kids trying to figure out where they belong.
When people make fun of Halsey, refer to her as "tri-bi" or trivialize her mental health issues, they're only hurting hundreds of kids their own age who, one day, might wake up and realize none of their idols are sharing experiences that might help them get through a difficult time.
Halsey isn't lying about being bisexual and if you can't support a talented, openly queer, socially conscious pop star then who the hell can you support?
