Fans think John Ambrose has been recast in the 'To All The Boys I've Loved Before' sequel

A rumour that Cole Sprouse is joining the cast of To All The Boys as John Ambrose has been circulating on Twitter but it appears to be based on a fake poster.

After months and months of teasing and talks and statements and speculation, it's now been officially confirmed that a sequel to Netflix's To All the Boys I've Loved Before is finally heading our way.

Confirmed on Twitter via Lana Condor and Noah Centineo in an adorable announcement video, Netflix are going ahead with bringing the next instalment of Jenny Han's book series to life. The announcement also teased the heavily anticipated appearance of John Ambrose McClaren, who is a major presence in book two ('PS. I Still Love You') of Han's trilogy.

But who will be playing him? Who will fill the role of Lara Jean's crush John Ambrose? Well, he's actually already appeared in the first movie in the post-credits scene and was played by an actor that the fans of the movie have already grown to love (Jordan Burtchett)... but judging by that announcement video, does it sound like John Ambrose has been recast?

Who will play John Ambrose McClaren in the To All The Boys I've Loved Before sequel?

In case you aren't familiar with the original book series written by Jenny Han, the movie sequel will likely focus on John Ambrose McClaren, who shows up on the doorstep of Lara Jean's house at the end of To All The Boys... after receiving her letter. If you thought Peter Kavinsky was your man... just wait until you meet John Ambrose. He's polite, he's charming, he's romantic AF... no spoilers but he is THAT guy. (If you do want spoilers about what happens in the books, they're right here.)

In the first film, he's played by Jordan Burtchett who has previously appeared in several series including 'The Killing' and 'Supernatural'. There's no confirmation that he'll be reprising his role yet but we're *assuming*, given that he had such an impactful appearance at the end of the first movie, that he'll be back for the sequel.

However, following what was said in the announcement teaser for the sequel, fans are now starting to worry that Burtchett might have been recast. In the clip, Lana Condor is facetiming with Noah Centineo when she gets an incoming call from someone else. She answers the phone and says "you're gonna make the perfect John Ambrose!"

Seeing as we've already seen who plays John Ambrose, people are now speculating about Jordan's involvement in the sequel and whether or not he'll reprise the role.

There also appears to be a huge amount of speculation online that Cole Sprouse will be playing John Ambrose in the sequel, based on a series of fake posters (H/T Bustle), but there's no real evidence to support those claims nor has there been any confirmation.

No other details have been spilled about the sequel yet but according to Susan Johnson, the director of To All The Boys, the movie sequel will likely "borrow from the third book."

But until we have an official announcement of the release date, title and the all important John Ambrose casting confirmation, we guess we'll just have to go for one more rewatch. Just one. Before the year is out.
